Volunteer: Soccer Coach

ISLA Soccer coach volunteers will commit to 2 hours a week of coaching and supervision of  ISLA soccer groups. They will be responsible for supervising team lunches (provided by ISLA)  and soccer practices on set Saturday’s throughout the semester. ISLA soccer coaches will be  responsible for attending games, banquets, and providing parents with information regarding  their team schedules. More information regarding positions will be provided at the volunteer  trainings.

Volunteer: Office Volunteers

Volunteers will be committed to coming to the ISLA office and assisting in creating materials  for Saturday classes. A lot of the materials used each Saturday are made here at the ISLA  office due to limited resources in Spanish. (Only non­Saturday classroom volunteer) More  information regarding positions will be provided at the volunteer trainings.

Volunteer: Story Hour Volunteer

Volunteers help facilitate the activity and instruction of ISLA Spanish Story Hour or "Hora de  Español". Story Hour is 45 minutes of games, songs, and books in Spanish for children ages  3­7.  Volunteers can also assist with other ISLA Saturday classroom activities in order to complete  volunteer hours. For example: supervising the children, being small group leads during  activities, classroom set­up and clean up, and other duties to assist teachers. Some Spanish  proficiency required as only Spanish is spoken in the school. More information regarding  positions will be provided at the volunteer trainings.

Volunteer: Children's group volunteers needed

If you love children then this is a great opportunity for you!  SAFEchild is a child abuse prevention agency, and is in need of volunteers to work with children in small groups while their parents attend parenting classes.  Volunteer commitment is for 3 hours once a week for 12 weeks. Most groups meet in the evening.   Activities include doing arts and crafts, reading, leading group discussions, and playing with the children.  All volunteers receive training and ongoing support and supervision.   We are currently looking for volunteers for groups beginning in September 2016 and also our Winter 2017 programs.   If you are interested please contact Ginna Bustle at gbustle@safechildnc.org for more information . Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Durham County is seeking volunteers to assist with tax preparation services offered at several locations during the 2017 tax season. Through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, (VITA), program, RSVP provides free tax service to Durham County community members.   RSVP seeks an experienced accountant or tax law professional to provide tax training to new and returning VITA tax preparers.  Training will take place at the beginning of January 2017 and last for one week.
